Refresher and Updating for Proficiency in Medical Care

Overview

The course aims to refresh & update knowledge of candidates who has already completed the in Medical Care course.

This course covers the mandatory requirements for the issue of a Certificate of Refresher & Updating for Proficiency in Medical Care as set out in Regulation VI/4, Section A-VI/4, Table A-VI/4-2 of the STCW 1978, as amended.

On successful completion of this course, the participants will acquire the necessary knowledge, understanding and proficiency to attend to any medical emergency on board and be able to provide medical care to the sick and injured while they remain on board and participate in coordinated schemes for medical assistance to ships.

Intake Limitations

Maximum 12 students per course.

Academic Faculty

Our training will be delivered by properly qualified lecturers and instructors with qualifications as specified in MSN 03/2022 issued by the Director General of Merchant Shipping, Merchant Shipping Secretariat, Sri Lanka.

Entry Requirements

This course is open to all seafarers who hold the certificate of proficiency in Medical Care and having approved minimum total seagoing service of 3 months during the preceding 5 years.

All trainees must be certified by a doctor to be in good health and have valid medical certificate issued in accordance with provisions of STCW Reg.I/9 and section A-I/9.
