Private Pilot License

The Private Pilot License (Aeroplane) is the must have license for all those who aspire to fly as professional pilots and leisure flyers alike. Openskies PPL is designed to fullfill ground theory and flight training requirements of both Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka (CAASL) and International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) and therefor the PPL(A) would be internationally recognised and can be easierly converted to any national license.

Course Structure

The course consists of Ground Theory conducted at our ground theory facility in Panadura and flight training conducted at either of our bases in Katukurunda or Ratmalana.

Ground Theory

  • 210 Hours of theory covering
  • Aircraft General Knowledge (AGK)
  • Principles of Flight (POF)
  • Meteorology (MET)
  • Navigation (NAV)
  • Human Performance & Limitations (HPL)
  • Air Law (LAW)
  • Mass & Balance, Flight Performance and Planning (FPP)
  • Communication (COM)

Flight Training

  • 40 Hours hours of flight training consisting of
  • 10 Hours Solo flight time
  • 05 Hours PIC Cross Country
  • 05 Hours Flight time in instrument conditions

Duration

  • Full Time: 06 Months
  • Part Time: 08 Contract Days
  • Full time theory classes are conducted monday through friday from 9 am to 5 pm
  • Part Time theory classes are scheduled during weekends or as per students availability.
  • Flight training is indivigual and is in accordance with students availability.
  • Full time students are expected to fly at least 4 hours per week to ensure completion on time.

Full Time: 06 Months / Part Time: 08 Contract Days
