Ocean University of Sri Lanka - Scuba Diver (NVQ 3 & 4)

Course Overview

This course has been designed to produce competent Divers and Underwater welders having an NVQ Level 3 and Level 4 certificates. Scuba diving is done for various purposes such as recreational, fishing, industrial, scientific, military, and public safety applications.

Students can select packages among the available packages to register for the scuba diver course. These packages are offered by each Regional Centre if there is a minimum number of students for each package. Available packages are Open Water Diving, Advanced Open Water Diving, Commercial Diving (Open Water), Underwater Welding and Cutting, Commercial Diving (Advanced Open Water), Recreational Diving and In-water rescue. If you follow Packages 3, 4, or 5 you will be able to obtain NVQ Level 3 certificate from TVEC and if you follow 6 or seven packages you will be able to obtain NVQ Level 4 certificate from TVEC.. After completing the course, you will be able to find employment in Ports, Tourism industry, fisheries industry as scuba Diver or Underwater welder in locally or internationally or engage in a Self-employments.

This course is carried out under the accreditation of the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC) and conducted in line with the national competency standards (NCS).

Package 3: Commercial Diving (Open Water)

Perform open water dive and dive for commercial purposes (open water)

Package 4: Commercial Diving (Advance Open Water)

Perform open water dive, perform advance open water dive and dive for commercial purposes (advance open water)

Package 5: Recreational Diving

Perform open water dive, perform advance open water dive and dive for recreational purposes

Package 6: Underwater Welding and Cutting

Perform open water dive, perform advance open water dive and perform underwater welding and cutting

Package 7: In Water Rescue

Perform open water dive, perform advance open water dive and perform in-water rescue
