Course Overview

This course has designed to provide wide range of specialized technical or scholastic knowledge and skills, in aquaculture systems, farming and harvesting finfish, shellfish, prawn and aquatic plant species. Students are also be equipped with communication and problem-solving skills, teamwork, leadership qualities to ensure their career readiness to secure the future within the 21st century workforce. Studying a combination of subjects offer you opportunities for government jobs, to embed yourself in local and international Aquaculture farm-based jobs including ornamental fish and aquatic plants.

COURSE MODULE:

SEMESTER 1

Principles of Aquaculture, Language Skills, Basic Chemistry for Aquaculture, Basic Bio Statistics, Aquaculture Extension, Fish and Crustacean Biology, Occupational Health and Safety Procedures and Practices, Design aquaculture Systems, Introduction of Culturable Aquatic Species, Information Technology in Aquaculture, Water Quality Management, Workplace Information Management.

SEMESTER 2

Hatchery Operation, Nurseries & Grow-out Farming, Marine fin/shell Fish Culture, Fresh Water fish and Prawn Culture, Seaweed and Aquatic plant culture, Disease Management, Harvesting Technology, Principles, Operation and Maintenance of Aquaculture Machinery and Equipment, Workplace Communication Management, Planning and Scheduling Work at Workplace.
