Diploma in Geographic Information Systems

This will provide an understanding of Geo-informatics with special emphasis on Geographical Information Systems and Remote Sensing (GIS & RS). This is an advanced computer technology based discipline that would help to understand complex environmental, socio-economic situation of the ground. GIS and RS technology has therequired potential to manage natural resources and support to solve many problems existing in the socio-economic spheres particularly in Sri Lanka. After completion this course, the student would help in many ways to develop Sri Lanka. Therefore, the broad objective of the proposed Diploma in Geographic Information System course has linked with the vision and mission of the University of Kelaniya.
