COURSE OVERVIEW

Develop the trainees ability to use English to the intermediate language level and prepare trainees for developing the knowledge, understanding and proficiency in English required by the MSS and IMO model course.

CONTENTS

• Use English in written and oral from in general maritime communication. Ask for and give personal data
• Describe crew roles and routines
• Name, type of vessel, describe parts of a vessel
• Identify the location and purpose of safety equipment
• Discuss navigational routes and geographic location, understand helm orders
• Name positions on board, give direction on board and ashore
• Express personnel likes / dislikes and discuss leisure time on board
