Bachelor of Education Honours Degree

This nationally accredited Bachelors of Education Honours Degree has been developed in par with the Sri Lanka Qualification Framework, international educational standards and stakeholder expectations. The Bachelor of Education Honours degree curriculum balances an appropriate emphasis on education, strategy, ethics and governance with the fundamental components of education, teaching, leadership, management, supervision performance reporting.

Duration of The Programme and Intakes

• The duration will be Four (4) years of full time studies
• There will be one intake for 2024

Entry Criteria

• Three passes at the GCA A/L examination in any stream (Sri Lanka/ London).

Delivery

Modes of Delivery: Face to face

The course is delivered over a period of 4 year, on weekdays at the Gateway College, Colombo.

Students will:

• get hands-on practical teaching experience through in-school placements at the Gateway network of schools
• be able to deepen their practical experience through teaching internships
• learn from a strong network of world-class teaching professionals and education experts.

Assessment

• Continues assessments are based on written assignments, oral presentations, reflective records, teaching practice and end of semester examinations.

Career Opportunities

• Upon the successful completion of the programme participants can progress in their teaching careers and/or educational administrative careers or gain entry into the teaching professional within the state or non-state sector in Sri Lanka.
