Computer systems engineers and roboticists design intelligent, embedded technologies that drive innovation across industries—from autonomous vehicles and industrial automation to smart appliances and aerospace systems. This BEng (Hons) degree in Computer Systems Engineering and Robotics prepares you to build the systems behind the machines of tomorrow.
The programme places strong emphasis on the design, development, and programming of microprocessors and microcontroller-based systems. You will gain hands-on experience in specialised labs equipped for electronics, embedded systems, CAD, microwave and satellite communications, and digital design.
Throughout the course, you’ll explore core principles in computing, electronics, and control systems, while applying engineering theory to real-world challenges. Project-based learning forms a key part of the curriculum, helping you develop problem-solving, innovation, and systems-thinking skills essential for modern engineering roles.
In your final year, you will complete a major project where you’ll design and prototype a solution to a real-world robotics or embedded systems problem—preparing you for advanced technical roles or further research.
This degree offers a flexible progression pathway. After two years of study, you can obtain a Higher National Diploma (HND), enabling you to gain industry experience before completing your honours degree. You also have the option to finish your studies in Sri Lanka or transfer to a partner university in the UK or Australia, based on your goals.
