Biz Icon ‘25 took place on the 9th of April 2025 at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura which transformed the university premises into a hub of innovation, academic insight and youthful energy. From thought provoking business discussions to exciting entertainment and a competitive quiz, the event was a memorable and inspiring experience for hundreds of GCE A/L commerce students across Sri Lanka.
The event officially commenced at 8:30 AM with a warm welcome and a ceremonial lighting of the oil lamp which was followed by the grand unveiling of the official Biz Icon 25 logo setting a dynamic and vibrant tone for the day ahead.
The welcome speech was delivered by Rtr. Renish Perera, Joint Director of the Finance Committee of RACUSJ for the RI Year 2024-25. He emphasized the importance of initiatives like Biz Icon in shaping confident, career-ready professionals and creating meaningful bridges between education and the corporate world.
The morning continued with an inspiring motivational session by Mr. Mandapa Pandithage, who captivated the audience with practical wisdom, personal stories, and valuable life lessons. His dynamic presentation encouraged students to believe in their potential and take bold steps toward their futures.
Following this, a special segment by OnlineAccounting.lk, represented by Mr. Hashan Waduge, highlighted the impact of higher education on career growth and financial literacy, offering practical advice for students entering the business world.
To balance the academic intensity, the agenda featured entertainment performances by Flair Club, the Official Entertainment Partner. Their energetic performances brought smiles, movement, and creative relief, making the event experience even more engaging and enjoyable.
One of the standout segments of the day was the interactive panel discussion featuring Mr. Dulanjana Vithanage, Managing Director of Jack Fruit Ceylon (PVT) Ltd. The session, moderated by Rtr. Renish Perera, explored current business trends, entrepreneurial challenges, and the future of innovation in Sri Lanka. Audience members actively participated, making it an enriching exchange of ideas.
After a refreshing lunch break, the afternoon lineup included informative partner sessions and video presentations. Notable among these were Sessions by Aspire College of Higher Education [PVT] Ltd and OnlineAccounting.lk, reinforcing how digital tools and advanced learning are shaping future-ready business professionals.
A key academic highlight was the Business Studies Seminar conducted by Mr. H.M.A.U. Dayabandara, tailored specifically for students preparing for their GCE A/L examinations. This session delivered actionable tips, exam strategies, and key insights aligned with the current curriculum.
The much-anticipated Quiz Competition added a competitive thrill to the day. With a preliminary and final round, the quiz tested participants on a wide range of business-related topics, encouraging quick thinking and collaboration.
