Aircraft Maintenance Engineering

An Aircraft Maintenance Engineer is responsible for the routine maintenance and repair of Aircrafts ensuring they function correctly and remain in optimal condition. They play a crucial role among maintenance personnel to keep the aircrafts ‘airworthy’ at all times. The Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME) programme conducted by the Asian Aviation Centre’s Engineering Academy (AACEA)

(IS 147 Approved Training Organization ) is based on the requirements outlined by the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka (CAASL) and is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary for aircraft maintenance.

The Aircraft Maintenance Engineering B1.2 Basic Training Course offered by AACEA covers both theoretical and practical training components required for obtaining an Aircraft Maintenance Licence in category B1.2 – Aeroplane Piston. This course is fully approved by CAASL, and students successfully completing the programme will be awarded a Certificate of Recognition, confirming their completion of the B1.2 – Aeroplanes Piston Basic Training Course. This certificate enables students to demonstrate the basic knowledge requirements in Aircraft Maintenance Licence examinations conducted by CAASL in the corresponding subject modules.

The course is delivered in a modular format, providing theoretical and practical exposure in aircraft maintenance across appropriate subject modules in accordance with Appendix I to SLCAIS – 66: Implementing Standards – Personnel Licensing Requirements – Aircraft Maintenance Licence.

This course will be considered an approved basic training programme when calculating the experience required for the issuance of an Aircraft Maintenance Licence in sub-category B1.2 – Aeroplanes Piston and B3 – Piston Engine Non-Pressurized Aeroplanes of 2000 kg MTOM or below. Following the successful completion of the course, students can gain employment with an airline or aircraft operator and obtain additional on-the-job training (OJT) experience to become fully qualified Aircraft Maintenance Engineers with aircraft type ratings.
