This programme aims to cover several important areas of Software Engineering for absolute beginners such as; basic programming theory, object-oriented analysis and design, database design, visual programming and web design and development. In addition, it will also help you to understand project management and quality assurance in software development, which are important functions of any software engineering. You will gain the ability to meet the needs of the latest trends in the software industry and a broad range of skills for effective participation in a software development team and hence be able to compete effectively for positions in the software industry. A diverse range of teaching strategies including lectures, tutorials, case studies, portfolio of practical exercises, continuous assessment, group and individual exercises, practical presentations and other methods will be used to achieve the essential learning outcomes. The learning outcomes of each modules are mapped onto computing-related cognitive and practical abilities. These are intended to maximize the diploma student’s ability to solve professional problems using computers. After completion of this programme, student may be able to join with further studies in computing and could directly join with undergraduate programmes and be eligible to receive exemptions.
