Institute of Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (IBMBB) - Master of Philosophy and Doctor of Philosophy Programmes

IBMBB is fully equipped with the state of the art equipment and technology including an Automated DNA sequencer to carry out advance research in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology and related fields relevant to National Development. Several research programmes are currently in progress in the areas of :

• Bioinformatics
• Biotechnology
• Immunology
• Medicinal Plants
• Molecular/Biochemical Parasitology
• Molecular Biology of Reproduction/Endocrinology
• Molecular Genetics of Cancer
• Plant Molecular Biology and Molecular Diagnostics

Successful completion of an MPhil/PhD programme requires two to three years of full time research. Eligible candidates are expected to have first or second class upper division honours in a relevant subject or an MSc in relevant field. In addition candidate may require to undertake prescribed courses available at the institute before registration. The registration will also depend on the availability of supervisors. All courses are fee levying programmes.
